Council Removes Plain Clothes Traffic Officials

The City of Harare has with immediate effect removed plain Clothes Traffic Officials from the city’s roads with two uniforms set to be released for their easy identification as a means to curb corruption while enhancing safety.

The revelations made by the city’s mayor Jacob Mafume included a cocktail of other policy measures by council that include scrapping of the storage charges for vehicle’s and maintenance of the minimum US$50 fine subject to pending revaluation.

The city’s traffic cops had been alleged a menace in their quest to control traffic in the city as they were alleged corrupt and some bogus elements had started to surface in the streets.

The city’s which are mainly controlled by the opposition have been called to task interms of delivering services for the general public despite them citing ZANU PF hegemonic influence in management of Council affairs.
