MMCZ To administer Chrome Trade- Cabinet

The Mineral Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe will trade chrome as part of other measures enforced with the aim of enhancing the country’s 12billion dollar Mining Economy by 2023 strategy.


According to the post cabinet statement issued by the Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa, “The public is advised that Cabinet agreed to a policy change whereby all chrome ores will be traded through the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ).”


Furthermore, “The MMCZ, through a Chrome Ores Coordination Committee, will set quarterly prices of chrome ore which miners and traders will trade at. The Committee will comprise representatives of Smelters and the Chrome Small-Scale Miners Association.” Mutsvangwa highlighted.


Cabinet further highlighted commitment to see grants that had been exploited renewed and further approved the War Veterans claims among other measures aimed at availing development for Zimbabwe through a 12billion dollar mining economy.


“Cabinet also approved a number of special grant applications in the following categories: extension to current special grants which have successfully been exploited; empowerment of war veterans syndicates; and strategic development and expansion projects towards the US$12 billion milestones.” Mutsvangwa highlighted


While agriculture has remained Zimbabwe’s historical success forex earner climax, the ‘second republic’ has aimed at availing mineral GDP contribution through availing platforms for the potential mining sector’s dominance.
